I’m a bit late on June’s update, but having seen a fellow author’s mid-June update, I thought I should get something out for you. This is a public update (and will be crossposted to my Patreon). In May I started on a couple of short stories, pushed through another 10k words on You Are My Water, My World, and started rewriting a story I began in January 2024 but decided needed a fresh start to remove some dubious relationship context.

“The New Roommate” is a tale of neighbors who become friends, and then lovers, amidst an eviction and a pleasant entanglement with the new tenant in the woman’s former house. I haven’t vetted it for ‘haremlit’ qualification, but 13k into the story and our male protagonist has three women in his life, his pool, and his bed. So there’s a harem whether it’s brandable or not.

I’ve also gone back to work on An Accidental Monarch, the second volume of the Taledin series (draft cover is the featured photo on this post). It’s about up to the length of Majesty of Defeat already, and I’m trying to decide whether to let volume two come up to long novella/short novel length, or find a breaking point and extend the series to four or five novellas. I had a dream that could lead to the pre-inciting incident that will make volume three exciting.

On the topic of the Mendocino Series, the Christmas epilogue is about done, but I’m thinking of leaving it exclusive to Patreon (in the short term) and the omnibus (for the long term). What do you think?

I still have Trade Show Trade and Cul-De-Sac Compact in the works, as well as a couple of novellas I haven’t mentioned much. One has a man who finds himself entangled with a number of impressively tall, fit women. There are a couple in what will probably be called the Lakefront Series (barely-related stories tied together by a lake setting in far northern California). And there’s an unrelated Mendocino story that’s in my works-in-progress pile as well.
