Moving toward long-form stories

Since I last chatted with you, I’ve shifted my attention toward a couple of longer-form stories. This means that a couple of pieces are overdue now, but I’ll work on them this month.

I’ve merged the origin story for one of the characters in Triple Treat, which will have to be renamed for reasons that will be obvious in a month. Most of my writing in the last two weeks has been on the sysadmin story I mentioned a couple of times. The second part of Tasting Menu is slowly plodding along, as is Eleven First Dates.

I have also been experimenting a bit more with dictation. Two and a half chapters of the sysadmin story were spoken either into a pocket recorder that looks like a small piece of chocolate, or into a voice memo on my phone. Microsoft Word transcribes, and then I have the headache of turning a one-paragraph chapter into something readable.

I haven’t decided how far to go with dictation, but maybe when I have more structure in place, it will work out better.

And just because I’m not quite all-in with novel-length work, I am planning to tie down the 2017 stories. The image with this post is concept art for one of those series. I am still trying to figure out where I left off 7 years ago, but those tales should see the light of day before the Summer Solstice.

As always, you can see my current Amazon publications on my Author Page: https://www.amazon.com/author/marklinfoster (paid link, I may get a little extra if you buy books through this link).

If you haven’t read The Tasting Menu, check it out before I finish the conclusion to Jeremy and Cali’s story.

If you have, try The Three States of Brenda Marie. Part two in this series should be along by the end of the month.

Or get started on the Mendocino Series with Tracey Rose: An Unexpected Visitor, followed by Expresso Love and Wherever I Go. The third and possibly final part, probably called “Going Home,” is probably coming before Summer Solstice as well.

As always, your purchases, Kindle Unlimited reads, comments, reviews, and ratings are welcome and appreciated.
