I’m back with an update omnibus for my readers.
First, I’m on Reddit. I’m mostly getting into discussions about writing and writing-related topics, but I’ve created r/marklinfoster for reader conversations and announcements. So far it’s just producing private messaging spams for dating services, but feel free to drop by.
I’ve finished the second Mendocino story, tentatively titled “Renee Tilden: Wherever I Go.” I’m expecting it to be published by March 1. I’m sharing the draft cover here, but we’ll have to wait and see if this is close to the final version.
I also revised the cover and categorization for Tracey Rose, making it the Amazon-official prequel to Expresso Love. If you click on the front page of this website you’ll see that revision or look at it on Amazon.
I have a couple of shorts coming in March, and the second Solana story is underway. That one may end up mid to late March or even April.
I’ve finished what was supposed to be an origin story for a character in what I’m calling “Triple Treat,” but I realize it needs go into the series for that now-misnamed series about the four women in Ben’s life. I now also realize Ben doesn’t have a last name. I’m not sure that any of the people in this story are fully named, and I’m not sure that it matters. But it almost has to be four volumes, if not five, so while I hope to get it sorted out and the first volume out soon, don’t wait up for it.
On a more personal note, three of the romance/harem writers I read put out new books this past week. I’ve finished two and am halfway through a third. I’ll drop links here in case you want to see some of what I enjoy and get unexpected inspiration from. These are Amazon referral links, so I may get a small commission if you use them. #ad
Misty Vixen released Beneath the Ashes 2. It’s the follow-on to the original BtA post-apocalyptic adventure/romance about a world driven underground and a young man who takes one of the hardest jobs in the new world. It sounds like there will be a third volume, and given that Misty has some 8+ book series out there (Raw: A Primeval Fantasy has 8+ books, A Warm Place (contemporary post-apoc) has 9, and Haven (somewhat contemporary post-apoc) has 8 plus an epilogue) , it wouldn’t surprise me if Ethan and his lovers have a long life in print.
Michael Dalton brought out his second love triangle story in the Bikini Days series, Bikini Nights. The main character brings two of his daughter’s friends into his life after she prepares to move out on her own. In the second volume, parental issues bring some drama. (I’m about halfway through this one, so I don’t know yet if there will be a third part.) From what I understand, this is rare for Dalton, as it has no isekai, monster girls, or space settings. But when I catch up on some other things including some hardbound paper books, I will see what his other stuff feels like.
And one of the writers who inspired me to get my drafts out of cold storage, Marilyn Foxworthy, came out with her sixth Honest Attractions book, Submitted for Your Approval. It was a slow warm-up for me, but there’s a hint of more to this story that I’m hoping to see coming later this year. While Honest Attractions is not a series in the sense of character development (they’re mostly standalone stories), she has a lot of series that develop characters and versions of Earth that are quite enjoyable and enchanting. Girls on the Hill (contemporary technological romance) is a good starting point, as it laces into several other of her books in various and surprising ways. Shrine Maidens of Barsoom is still too short (only two books) but it’s an entertaining and erotic take on John Carter of Mars.
I’ll be back with more updates when new stories come out, and I welcome your reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, if you’re comfortable doing that.
